With more than 30 years of healthcare work, Dr. Marcelo Sanmartín Fernández is a Cardiology Specialist and is the Head of the Acute Coronary Syndrome Section at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital. At this center, Dr. Sanmartín coordinates a multidisciplinary team of specialists who approach patients with Atrial Fibrillation at different points in their care process in order to offer a comprehensive view of Thromboembolic Prevention. 

The aim of this professional is to advance knowledge of cardiovascular diseases, one of the main causes of mortality in developed countries. To this end, he has devoted much of his career to research, publishing numerous pieces in the Revista Española de Cardiología and achieving in 2013 the award for the best published article.
