Experience

Dr. Pilar Garrido López is an eminence in the field of Oncology and, in particular, in the most up-to-date surgical procedures used against cancer. Her work in health care and research has earned her numerous awards. Thanks to this training, and through a rigorous selection process, she was chosen as Head of the Medical Oncology Service of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital.

Her main area of interest is lung cancer and other thoracic tumors. On the other hand, Garrido López serves as President of the National Commission of Medical Oncology and of the National Council of Specialties in Health Sciences. She also collaborates with ESMO Women for Oncology, which focuses on raising awareness and promoting equal opportunities in the professional development of female oncologists. As such, she was the first female physician to head the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology.
