José Ángel Olivas Varela is an Expert in the Use of Soft Computing Techniques for information retrieval, data analysis and its applications and Artificial Intelligence. With a postdoctoral education in this area, at the University of California at Berkeley. He has collaborated with Oncology Departments, which require intelligent systems for decision-making based on the best support. 

Throughout his professional career, he has authored more than 250 scientific publications and the book Efficient Searching for Information on the Web. He is currently Director of the Soft Management of Internet and Learning (SMILe) Research Group and collaborates with the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence.
