Experience

Dr. María Francisca Portero took the first steps towards her specialization in the area of Microbiology with a fellowship at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburg, USA. After her return to Spain, she began her uninterrupted work at Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda University Hospital.  

From that position, she has implemented different techniques for the diagnosis of viruses, based on cell culture, of great utility for several organ transplant programs. She is also linked to the Research Department of Preventive Medicine and Microbiology at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Her participation in more than 40 scientific publications has made her an expert in the study of viruses and bacteria.
