Experience

Dr. Javier López San Román is a veterinarian specialized in equine care, specifically in the surgical management of bone and muscle injuries. And to achieve this, he carried out an extensive academic work, starring the program of the Official Postgraduate Certificate of the European College of Veterinary Surgery and several practical stays in equestrian centers, rotating through the various departments for the care of horses. He also has a PhD in Veterinary Medicine, which he obtained after the presentation of his thesis Study of the regeneration of the synovial membrane after subtotal arthroscopic synovectomy of the carpal joints of equids.  

More than 30 years dedicated to Veterinary Care in which he has coordinated the care practice with research (three six-year periods recognized by the CNEAI) and teaching in dozens of projects, especially university projects. Apart from being an Associate and Full Professor, he has been the Coordinator of several subjects of the Veterinary Degree, as well as speaker in programs and seminars related to the updating and scientific dissemination in the clinical practice associated with equines. 

  • Veterinarian Member of the Equine Surgery Service at the Hospital Clínico Veterinario Complutense.
  • Full Professor of the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Complutense University of Madrid and Deputy Director of the Department. 
  • Assistant Professor at the LRU University School.
  • Professor of Veterinary Medicine at national universities such as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Cordoba and Extremadura, and foreign universities such as Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Ecole Nationale Veterinaire de Lyon, Universidad Nacional del Litoral de Argentina.
  • Lecturer in different undergraduate and postgraduate courses, programs and masters of university specialization, both national and international, and Coordinator of different subjects and courses in the Veterinary Degree.
  • Reviewer of scientific articles in several journals indexed in the Journal Citation Report.
  • Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Complutense University of Madrid.
  • PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid.
  • Postgraduate Certificate from the European College of Veterinary Surgery.
