Experience

Dr. Teresa Bas Hermida was one of the first female spine surgeons in Spain, making her a reference in this discipline. She is Head of the Adult and Child Spine Unit at the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Department of the University and Polytechnic Hospital La Fe in Valencia.

She balances her practice with research, as Principal Investigator of the project for the Identification of Biomarkers based on Circulating MicroRNAs for the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS). She is also co-inventor of the ScoliPro device, an innovative technique for the detection and monitoring of AIS which, until now, could only be monitored with X-rays. She has also developed, together with other researchers, Biomarkers that allow the diagnosis and prognosis of AIT through a blood test.

In another order of priorities, Dr. Bas Hermida, together with her team, has carried out a pioneering Scoliosis Correction Surgical Intervention in Spain in a fourteen year old patient. Her prestigious professional career has been recognized with the award as one of the 25 best Orthopedic Doctors in Spain.
