General Objectives

• Master the latest techniques used for the design and fabrication of dental prostheses
• Incorporate the most effective methods, approaches and clinical analysis in daily work in the field of dental prosthesis
• Know the specific approach and common cases that occur in this clinical environment

Specific Objectives

• Master dental impression techniques for the fabrication of dental prosthesis, including alginate and addition silicone impressions
• Perform bite registrations and mounting of models in articulators, to achieve a correct occlusion in dental prosthesis
• Up-to-date with the different materials used in dental prosthesis, such as ceramics, acrylic resins, metals and zirconium systems
• Participate in the fabrication of implant-supported prosthesis, including the placement of abutments and the fabrication of customized prosthetic structures
• Perform the preparation of teeth for fixed prosthesis, following the principles of tooth structure preservation and strength of the prosthesis
• Perform techniques of registration and assembly of artificial teeth, ensuring correct esthetics and function in complete dental prosthesis
• Perform adjustments and repairs on existing dental prosthesis, including the addition of resin, replacement of components and surface polishing
• Develop skills in the handling of equipment and technologies used in dental prosthetics, such as intraoral scanners, computer-aided design (CAD) software and 3D milling or 3D printing systems
• Explain the different types of dental prosthesis available and help them make informed decisions about their prosthetic treatment
