Experience

Dr. María José Mayorga Buiza, a leading pediatric anesthesiologist, works in the city of Seville as a specialist in the area of pain treatment, anesthesiology and resuscitation with more than 15 years of experience, attached to the Andalusian Health Service. 

She is in charge of Research at the Maternal and Infant Surgical Block of the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital and coordinates the Applied Neuroscience Research Group belonging to IBIS; she is also a member of the Interdisciplinary Physics Group of the University of Seville. Recently, as part of this work, she has published a study in which she confirms that from the second trimester of pregnancy the future baby already manifests pain attitude to a noxious stimulus or stress response, which has generated important advances and changes in the area. 

As a Researcher in Child Neuroanesthesia and Pain, both in pediatric and adult patients, she has patented an endoscopic device for fluid application and an anti-outlet connector for infusion routes, as the most important projects, among multiple publications in journals, contributions to congresses and collaborations in book chapters. This, along with being a University Professor at the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Seville and other graduate programs.
