Elisa Ibañez Martínez is a Specialist Pharmacist in Microbiology and Clinical Parasitology, attached to this specific area at the La Fe Polytechnic and University Hospital La Fe, where she has developed her career in recent years, in the Section of Serology and Bacteriology developing blood cultures, studying organic liquids, environmental controls and other types of evaluations.

Within her wide range of research she is working on the development and validation of the methodology for the determination of certain volatile organic compounds in air exhaled by patients with cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis and lung transplants, to diagnose infection by these microorganisms, by gas chromatography coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrophotometry. 

To promote her work and keep abreast of technological innovations, she is an active member of various organizations such as the European, Spanish and Valencian Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, entities that have supported her various studies such as the "Protocol for action in the use of antibiotics" or the "Parasitological diagnosis of tropical diseases".
