Experience

Dr. Alvaro Gonzalez Rocafort became a reference in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery when he included in his competencies a group of conservative techniques in the surgical treatment of children and adolescents with congenital mitral or aortic valve disease. Prior to this innovation, these anatomical elements were only removed and replaced by an artificial prosthesis.

Gonzalez Rocafort has achieved satisfactory results in his new procedures, since using the patients' own tissue makes it possible to delay the implantation of artificial valve prostheses in growing hearts. These advances have been applied mainly in the Congenital Heart Disease Unit of the University Hospital HM Montepríncipe.  With more than a decade of professional practice, he has worked in prestigious health centers such as La Paz, Ramón y Caja and San Carlos Clinical Hospitals, among others. His academic contributions have been collected in several articles and published in international scientific journals.
