Dr. Marcos Gómez Sancho is an eminent figure and one of the world's leading figures in Palliative Medicine, as recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Labor and Immigration with the Gold Medal for Merit in the Workplace.

Specialized in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, he is also an Expert in the Supportive Treatment of the Neoplastic Patient and Primary Care in Palliative Care of the Advanced Oncological Patient.

Creator and Director of the Palliative Medicine Unit at El Sabinal Hospital, this celebrated Doctor has dedicated his professional life to improving the quality of life of terminally ill patients and their families. Throughout his extensive and prestigious career, he has given more than 1200 lectures in Europe and America, and is an active member of more than 40 associations, including the Spanish Association of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain Treatment, the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Spanish Pain Society.

He also belongs to 12 scientific and editorial committees, including the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Palliative Medicine, the Teaching Committee of the European Association for Palliative Care or his work as an Advisor to the Journal ELAM, among many others. In addition, he has authored and co-authored countless books in his field of study such as Dying with Dignity, Man and the Physician in the Face of Death and How to Deliver Bad News in Medicine.
