Experience

The interest in research and in understanding the complex relationships between genome sequences and phenotypes is what has motivated Dr. Toni Gabaldón Estevan during his more than 15 years in the profession. A qualified biochemist and biologist by training, he has focused much of his career on the study of phylogenomics and its multiple applications. As such, after publishing his doctoral thesis in Medical Sciences, he started his own working group in the Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics of the CRG, later joining the Institute of Biomedical Research and the National Supercomputing Center as coordinator.

All this balanced with teaching at ICREA and with the divulgative activity. For all this he has received important awards such as the Margaret Dayhoff Award. In addition, he has co-authored more than 250 articles indexed in journals and media of national and international importance.
