En primer lugar, se centra en la configuración marítima del Puerto incluyendo tanto el dimensionamiento en planta como en alzado. El dimensionamiento se basa en las Recomendaciones de Obras Marítimas ROM.

El alumno adquirirá conocimientos sobre las tipologías de obras de atraque, las ventajas e inconvenientes de cada tipo y los procedimientos constructivos dichas obras. También obtendrá la capacidad para el diseño estructural de obras de atraque. 

En el módulo se estudian tanto los diques verticales como los diques en talud, el diseño, las acciones sobre los mismos, las comprobaciones de estabilidad requeridas, así como las diversas consideraciones de construcción que el estudiante debe conocer. 

También se desarrolla el punto de modelos a escala de diques en talud y se muestran una serie de ejemplos de diques construidos que proporcionarán al alumno una primera aproximación al diseño de estos. 

Al finalizar, el alumno dispondrá de conocimientos sobre el medio físico marino y de conocimientos sobre las tipologías de obras marítimas exteriores, las ventajas e inconvenientes de cada tipo y los procedimientos constructivos de las obras marítimas. Así mismo, conseguirá capacidad para el diseño estructural de diques y el diseño de las infraestructuras portuarias, desde los estudios de batimetría y geofísica hasta las campañas geotécnicas requeridas para el posterior estudio geotécnico de los proyectos.
