Esta capacitación llevará al alumno a través del estudio de los principios teológicos formales implicados en la lectura teológica de la Sagrada Escritura: canonicidad, inspiración e inerrancia, así como los principales elementos históricos y geográficos que sirven como subsidio para el estudio de la Biblia, con lo que podrá proponer los principios hermenéuticos para su correcta comprensión, identificar los lugares y acontecimientos referidos por la Sagrada Escritura y revisar distintas versiones de la Biblia.
A partir de este conocimiento, podremos introducirnos en el hecho de la revelación divina, describiendo el marco histórico, cultural y religioso en el que tuvo lugar la acción reveladora divina y poner de manifiesto cómo es que la Sargada Escritura presenta la historia de la humanidad en sentido lineal y no en un proceso cíclico.
Con todo este bagaje de conocimientos, el alumno entenderá la relación del contenido del Pentateuco con el resto del mensaje bíblico y con las corrientes más importantes de interpretación teológica actuales e históricas y con el pensamiento científico, lo que le permitirá trazar el desarrollo de la historia de salvación a través de todo el período contemplado para entender la acción de Dios en su pueblo en cada momento. Un proceso con el cuál se podrán, además, identificar las características fundamentales de la historia y estructura de las obras que componen la literatura profética, conocer las principales unidades temáticas de la literatura profética y sus principales autores asociándolos al contexto histórico en el que surge cada uno.
