Neurological diseases are the second leading cause of death worldwide, hence in recent years even reporting an increase of 34% since 1990. Among the conditions with the highest incidence are meningitis, encephalitis, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and migraine, the last two leading the list. According to predictions, the demographic behavior of the population will be correlated with the prevalence of increasingly severe and disabling conditions. Therefore, the relevance of having more specialists in the field of neurological pathologies, not only in therapeutic methods, but fundamentally to know the most effective preventive and diagnostic methods for these conditions. Faced with this scenario, TECH has developed this Internship Program that will allow to approach the patient in a hospital setting with state-of-the-art resources, under the guidance of an assigned tutor and following a series of activities typical of this medical specialty. You will explore different perspectives of a problem and propose advanced solutions together with the multidisciplinary team that you will integrate, in an intensive stay for 3 weeks in the clinical center of your choice, among those available for the execution of this program.

This training program in Neurology consists of a 3-week practical stay, from Monday to Friday, with 8-hour consecutive practical teaching sessions alongside an attending specialist. Diagnostic Methodology: Clinical Localization and Explorations in Clinical Neurology Research

Generate differential diagnoses: syndromic diagnosis, pathological diagnosis, etiological diagnosis, and functional diagnosis
Indicate common diagnostic tests and imaging techniques such as Computed Tomography
Delve into the general principles of topography and neurological semiology
Diagnose and treat neuromuscular transmission disorders
Diagnose and treat ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, as well as other neurovascular disorders

Approach to Patients with Altered Levels of Consciousness

Diagnose and treat Dementia and Lewy bodies
Measure the patient’s orientation in time, space, and person, attention and concentration, memory, verbal and mathematical skills, judgment, and reasoning
Perform the mental status exam according to specific methodologies
Evaluate praxia and spatial perception
