With this Practical Training you will take a definitive step in your career.”
Internship
This study in consists of a 3-week stay, from Monday to Friday, with 8-hour consecutive practical training sessions alongside an attending specialist. Through this experience, the physician will observe real patients, working alongside a team of leading specialists in the field, applying the most innovative diagnostic procedures and planning state-of-the-art therapy for each pathology.
In this training proposal, each activity is designed to strengthen and enhance the key competencies required for specialized practice in this area. Thus, it will maximize the professional profile, driving solid, efficient, and highly competitive performance.
The practical training will be conducted with the guidance and support of professors and fellow trainees, facilitating teamwork and multidisciplinary integration as transversal competencies for medical practice (learning to be and learning to relate).
The procedures described below will form the foundation of the training, and their implementation will depend on the availability of the center, its usual activities, and workload. The proposed activities are as follows:
Laboratory techniques and tools for the diagnosis of Pediatric Infections
- Properly collect oral samples and other excretions
- Indicate the antibiogram for pediatric patients suspected of infectious diseases
- Perform skin biopsies and other soft tissue biopsies to identify the source of an infectious disease
- Use ultrasound and other imaging techniques to assess the extent of an infectious disease in the body and verify the pathology
- Interpret microbiology reports and other results from laboratory techniques
Ocular, skin, soft tissue, and skeletal infections in children and adolescents
- Perform surgical interventions for severe and chronic cases of dacryocystitis
- Diagnose pre and postseptal orbital cellulitis using complete blood count, blood cultures, or throat culture
- Prescribe therapeutic protocols for pediatric patients with lymphangitis, including oral and intravenous antibiotics, analgesics, and anti-inflammatories
- Apply MRI studies to identify osteomyelitis and arthritis
Prophylactic care and infection protection for children
- Apply hospital control protocols for current multi-drug resistant microorganisms
- Implement current isolation protocols in pediatric hospital care
- Properly administer antibiotic prophylaxis in children and adolescents, focusing on transplant patients and those treated for atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome
- Structure, according to current guidelines, the vaccination schedule for pediatric patients from the neonatal period to adolescence
Gastrointestinal, urinary, and sexually transmitted infections
- Activate diagnosis and treatment protocols for traveler’s diarrhea in children
- Collect blood samples from children and adolescents suspected of contracting Hepatitis (A, B, C, and E)
- Perform surgery to remove parts of the colon affected by Clostridium difficile in pediatrics
- Use cystography with radionuclides to diagnose urinary infections in children and adolescents
- Administer antiretrovirals in pediatrics, especially for children suspected of having HIV
Febrile syndromes and rashes
- Perform PCR tests for leishmania, coronavirus, and other infectious diseases
- Use indirect immunofluorescent antibody tests for recurrent and periodic febrile episodes
- Indicate Gram staining of skin lesions, pleural fluid, and stool from children and adolescents suspected of bacterial infectious diseases
- Apply serology for brucellosis and other bacterial and viral infections in children and adolescents
Train in an institution that can offer you all these possibilities, with an innovative academic program and a human team capable of developing you to the maximum.
Internship Program in Pediatric Infectious Diseases
Pediatric infectious diseases is a medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infections in children. This population is more susceptible to contracting infections, due to their immune system, which is still in a developmental stage. Therefore, it is important that health professionals are trained in this area, in order to provide high quality care. Under this premise, TECH Technological University presents its Internship Program in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, a detailed look at the multiplicity of schemes that take place in this health field. Here, we propose a pragmatic journey through various modules ranging from the importance of vaccines and how to administer them properly to protect children against dangerous infectious diseases; to treatment protocols for various infectious diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis and sepsis.
Specialize in pediatric infectious disease
Proper antibiotic prescribing and the importance of avoiding unnecessary use of these drugs to prevent antibiotic resistance, identifying signs of infection in children, the importance of hygiene and how to prevent the spread of infections in medical and school settings are some of the topics you will learn by enrolling with this comprehensive TECH program. Here, we are in charge of training high-profile professionals so that they can improve both their income and their strategies in the treatment of pediatric infectious diseases. Therefore, we provide you with the best program you will find to optimize your curriculum. We guarantee quality lessons enhanced with advanced multimedia technology and case studies that will reinforce your knowledge. At the end of your training, you will be able to identify, treat and prevent infectious diseases in children, which can make a big difference in the lives of young patients.
