Develop clinical and therapeutic skills in a real working environment and under the supervision of experts in the field of Respiratory Physiotherapy

Specific Objectives

Develop practical skills in the use of different techniques of respiratory physiotherapy, such as assisted cough, mechanical ventilation, lung expansion and chest vibration, among others
Perform an adequate assessment and physiotherapeutic diagnosis of patients with respiratory pathologies, such as asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis and cystic fibrosis, among others
Apply the best strategies for the prevention and treatment of respiratory complications in critical patients, such as pneumonia, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and pulmonary edema
Practice designing individualized, based treatment plans in physiotherapeutic evaluation, for patients with different respiratory pathologies
Work in teams with other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists, to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients
Develop skills to communicate effectively with patients and family members, explaining treatments and guidelines to follow in understandable language
Enhance practice in the use of medical devices for respiratory physiotherapy, such as respiratory stimulators, nebulizers and CPAP
Perform adequate monitoring of patients during treatment, constantly evaluating the response to physiotherapy techniques applied
Develop skills to properly document evolution of the patient and the response to physiotherapeutic treatments applied, using tools such as the nursing registry
Learn to apply physiotherapy techniques with sensitivity and empathy towards patients, adapting therapy to their needs and physical limitations, and providing respectful and humanized care
