Recognized nationally for his most recent Iberian Press Award for Innovation in Medicine in the Surgical and Medical-Surgical Pathologies modality, Dr. Rafael Badenes Quiles is an eminent figure in the area of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care, responsible for Mobile ECMO for Transplants in the Valencian Community. 

He is a pioneer in establishing an extracorporeal system, which is usually used in units for respiratory or hemodynamic support, in the process of recovery of organs of a deceased person for transplantation.  This work has allowed him to become Sector Transplant Coordinator, as well as Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain Therapy at the Clinical University Hospital of Valencia. 

Along with his intense clinical activity, he does not stop promoting lines of research accumulating 120 publications in the most prestigious indexed journals in his field from the Research Group in Anesthesia of INCLIVA, team of which he is part as principal researcher, moving his studies to the field of Neurocritical Care and organ donation and transplants.
